Beta-carotene is a powerful antioxidant ingredient, which means it protects skin from free radicals and reduces oxidative damage. It is a provitamin A, meaning it converts to vitamin A once in the skin, and can clear acne and help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, slack skin, and other signs of aging. Another popular form of vitamin A in skincare is retinol. Beta-carotene offers similar benefits.

Alongside these benefits, beta-carotene can also brighten the skin, removing dullness and helping to improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation—this includes uneven skin tone and post-acne discoloration.
