A good skincare routine is the key to healthy, glowing skin. But let’s be honest, it’s nice to add a little oomph to your complexion. On days that I want a flawless look without the effort of a full makeup application, I rely on Face Glow.
Some of the ingredients that make Face Glow special
Face Glow is formulated with ingredients that nourish your skin and also provide a subtle shimmer for the perfect no-makeup makeup look.
Let’s take a look at a few of my favourite Face Glow ingredients and how they benefit the skin.
Raspberry Seed Oil
Not only are raspberries absolutely delicious, raspberry seed oil is a superstar skincare ingredient. Here’s why:
Minimizes signs of aging:
Raspberry seed oil is loaded with vitamin A, which helps to boost collagen production and speed cell renewal.(1) This helps to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and leave the skin looking plump and smooth.
Fights free radicals:
In addition to vitamin A, raspberry seed oil also contains vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant that helps to combat premature signs of aging caused by free radical damage.(1)
Strengthens the skin barrier:
Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are necessary for a strong skin barrier and raspberry seed oil is bursting with these essential fatty acids.(1)
Keeps the skin hydrated:
Raspberry seed oil acts as an occlusive. This means it forms a protective layer on the skin to trap moisture and slow transepidermal water loss. By reducing the rate of transepidermal water loss, the skin stays hydrated and supple.
Aloe vera
The benefits of aloe vera in skincare are no secret. This ingredient has been used for thousands of years. Here’s why:
Supports wound healing:
Aloe vera has been recognized as an effective treatment for first and second degree burns. It does this by increasing collagen production around wounds and strengthening the bond between collagen fibres to help support wound healing.(2)
Soothes inflammation:
Studies show that aloe vera contains compounds that help to decrease skin inflammation. Interestingly, it also has analgesic properties to help reduce pain associated with inflammation.(3)
Improves hydration:
Aloe vera is a humectant,(4) meaning it attracts water to the skin to keep it hydrated. Pair this with the occlusive properties of raspberry seed oil and you can say bye-bye to dehydrated skin.
Spirulina
Spirulina is a blue-green algae that has become a popular superfood. It’s also making waves as a beneficial skincare ingredient. Here’s why:
Improves hyperpigmentation:
Dark circles and spots (AKA: hyperpigmentation) are a common side effect of UV damage. Studies show that spirulina may inhibit tyrosinase (an enzyme that controls melanin production) to help minimize the appearance of hyperpigmentation.(5)
Controls sebum:
A 2015 study found that sebum levels on the forehead were reduced after applying a gel cream containing 0.1% spirulina extract for 28 days.(5)
Reduces breakouts:
Spirulina boasts anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that researchers believe may be effective against acne.(5)
Mica
We can’t talk about the amazing ingredients in Face Glow without mentioning mica. While the ingredients listed above work to nourish the skin for a healthy, radiant complexion, mica is what really gives Face Glow its glow.
Mica is a mineral with reflective properties that is naturally found in the earth. It’s ground to a fine powder and added to cosmetic and skincare formulations to impart a subtle shimmer. It also provides a blurring effect for a flawless looking complexion.
It’s important to mention that the mica we use at Graydon Skincare is ethically and sustainably-sourced so you can feel good about your glow!
These ingredients, and all of the others in Face Glow, work synergistically to bring out the best in your skin!
How to use Face Glow
Here at Graydon Skincare, we love multipurpose products and Face Glow is a real winner!
Is it a tinted moisturizer, skin primer or illuminator? Trick question, it’s all three!
To use Face Glow as a moisturizer:
Apply to freshly cleansed skin after applying your favourite serum, or mix Face Glow with your serum before applying to create a Skin Smoothie. Personally, I love the Glow Getter Skin Smoothie. You'll get just enough glow for the cherished no-makeup make up look! This is my go-to in the morning.
To use Face Glow as a primer:
Apply liberally to freshly cleansed skin before applying your foundation. You can also mix Face Glow with your foundation to give your look a little extra shimmer.
To use Face Glow as a highlighter:
Gently pat a small amount of Face Glow on the high points of your face as the final step in your makeup application. I like to apply it to the tops of my cheekbones, tip of my nose and cupid’s bow. This gives a little extra sparkle when the light hits.
Pro tip: Rub any excess into the backs of your hands.
Face Glow is suitable for all skin types and is designed to match a wide range of skin tones.
