Most of us are multitasking mavens–and let’s face it, we need to be! Life is busy and exciting, and we put in the energy to not only keep up but make the most out of every moment. I asked some close friends what their best multitasks were lately, and I heard everything from taking a business call while doing morning yoga, to listening to an audiobook while gardening, to even getting in an arm workout while walking groceries home from the store (that last one might have been me 😉).
All this to say–your skincare shouldn’t be any different. The products you use should be able to multitask just as hard as you do, so you don’t spend ages in front of the mirror pumping out dozens of products just so your skin is taken care of.
The products you use should be able to multitask just as hard as you do.
This desire for powerful, multipurpose skincare is a major reason why I created Supermoon Serum. I thought to myself: If this is the one serum people put on their faces, it needs to deliver a plant-powered punch in just a few drops so their skin looks and feels beautiful.
The result of this thought? Supermoon Serum is a 6-in-1 multipurpose skincare superstar! Let me break down the benefits of a product that multitasks just as hard as you do.
Benefit 1: Firms Skin and Reduces the Appearance of Fine Lines
Supermoon Serum contains two botanical retinol alternatives–dew bean and bakuchi–that help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles without sensitizing the skin the way a traditional retinol does.
Traditional retinol is a vitamin A derivative, and is highly unstable–when exposed to UV light, it degrades rapidly (that’s why skincare experts advise you not to wear traditional retinol during the day!)
On the flip side, botanical retinols get their benefits elsewhere. Dew bean is a protein-rich legume with seeds packed full of antioxidants, and bakuchi is a healing herb that helps skin regenerate. Both these ingredients stimulate cellular activity like collagen production–which helps maintain skin firmness and elasticity–and their high levels of antioxidants helps the skin repair itself after damage.
Dew bean is also able to boost cell renewal. Plus, it contains phenolic compounds like caffeic acid, cinnamic acid, ferulic acid and kaempferol, which all protect your skin against free radicals and UV damage. Bakuchi, on top of being a bio-retinol, is known as the great healing herb because it calms the skin with anti-inflammatory properties and helps skin regenerate while fighting bacteria.
Benefit 2: Hydrates and Plumps Skin
Hello, hydration! Supermoon Serum has one of my favourite hydrators…maple sap water! Not only is it rich in amino acids and natural sugars, giving the skin excellent hydration, but as a Canadian, I love that the maple sap water in Supermoon Serum is sourced locally.
There’s another ingredient rich in amino acids that makes sure skin is plump and hydrated–hibiscus esculentus extract, a natural peptide! Wondering what makes amino acids so good for your skin hydration? They not only promote water retention but they also promote healing dry and damaged skin.
Another way Supermoon Serum hydrates is with our naturally-derived, vegan hyaluronic acid. This naturally occurring substance in the body is fantastic at drawing water into the skin and leaving your face looking plump and hydrated. We use hyaluronic acid extracted from the seed of Indian senna.
P.S. maple sap water is our replacement for the regular water found at the top of many water-based serums’ ingredients list. We wanted to make sure every drop of this serum was filled with skin-loving ingredients!
Benefit 3: Reduces the Frequency of Breakouts
Breakouts can be triggered by a variety of things, including hormones, bacteria, your diet, and stress. The solution you need from skincare products when it comes to acne are hydration, protection, and soothing properties. I’ve already talked about hydration, so let’s dive into the ways Supermoon Serum protects your skin from bacteria, dirt, and debris–and how it soothes your skin, calming any redness and irritation associated with breakouts.
When it comes to defending your skin from environmental factors that can irritate the skin and clog pores, the moringa extract in Supermoon Serum is a powerful defense. This ingredient defends your epidermis layer by reducing particle adhesion and purifying the skin. Sounds complicated? The results are simple: skin that is protected against environmental damage, oxidative stress, and–of course–breakouts! Dew bean also encourages cell turnover, which can be important for treating acne.
Supermoon’s soothing and anti-inflammatory ingredients can help reduce the reactions your skin has to damage and debris, helping you avoid angry, inflamed acne. Bakuchi is anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory, plus blue tansy soothes while removing excess oil from the skin.
Benefit 4: Brightens Skin
Say bye bye to dark spots and uneven skin tone!
Moringa extract, which I mentioned above, contains more than 7x the amount of vitamin C found in oranges. This makes it a phenomenal ingredient because of vitamin C’s ability to brighten the skin. It also contains over 90 nutrients, including amino acids, vitamins, and minerals.
Remember all the great things I shared about bakuchi? Well, it does more than just help with fine lines. It also assists with regulating melanin production, which helps with hyperpigmentation and evening out skin tone.
These two ingredients together mean Supermoon Serum helps reduce the appearance of dark spots, leading to a more refreshed and energetic look.
Benefit 5: Improves Texture
When it comes to skin texture, one of the biggest areas of concern for most people is their pores. We have a unique ingredient in Supermoon Serum that helps minimize the appearance of pores–mahogany bark extract. What is so exciting about this ingredient is that it’s actually a vegan collagen substitute (and one of our upcycled ingredients). Studies have shown that mahogany bark extract stimulates the production of collagen, making the skin appear plush, full, and smooth. It increases skin elasticity–and of course reduces pore size.
Plus, by hydrating the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, Supermoon Serum smooths out the skin’s texture, giving it an even, plump, and dewy appearance.
Benefit 6: Protects Skin from Pollution
Supermoon Serum is great at protecting the skin from pollution–we even won an award for it!
The copper-rich malachite in our formula protects your skin from the elements by increasing collagen production in your skin (thank you, copper!) and detoxifying the skin with its antioxidant properties. Going back to one of our wonderful bio-retinols, dew bean also contains a variety of acids that protect your skin against free radicals and UV damage.
The source of the anti-pollution complex in Supermoon Serum, however, is our moringa extract. Remember how I said it prevents the adhesion of particles to the skin? That’s the reason why it prevents oxidative damage caused by environmental pollutants and provides a protective shield on the surface of the skin!
