Great Protection

This is a great product for sun protection. It has a thicker consistency to the regular moisturisers and can leave the skin a bit sticky when first applied. This goes away quickly as the product is absorbed into the skin. This kept my face " burn free" after a day of gardening in the west coast sunshine so this product is a winner for me!

Two Sunburns

I like how it applies, and how it feels on my face. However, I got two sunburns while using it. The first was when I was active (playing beach volleyball) for two hours. I understand the sweating would be a factor in it not being as protective from the sun, but the second sunburn happened while I was off/on sitting outside for about 1.5 hours. Is there an approximate time limit for sun exposure your company would recommend for this product?

Hi Amanda, Elements uses 12.5% non-nano uncontested zinc and a blend of sun protective plant-based oils. This synergy helps to fully nourish and protect the skin. This product is marketed to protect you from the elements (sun, wind and pollution). It is excellent for day-to-day use. However, if you are playing volleyball or planning to spend a period of time in the sun (i.e. in the summer or on vacation down south) we suggest you use it in conjunction with a certified broad spectrum SPF value of 15 or higher with other sun protection measures (i.e. limit time in the sun, wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, sunglasses).

My favorite base AM moisturizer for whole body

I have been using elements for 6 months now. I have completely given up on most skincare from the drug store, Sephora, and Ulta. This is my favorite base moisturizer. I say base because it has the best ingredients for the groundwork of a true AM moisture and protective barrier. I rarely use alone. I treat this as a natural sunscreen mositure barrier. I pair it with green cream, the putty, or face glow and always add a small amount of chemical sunscreen when going outside for more than 2 hours. I have had no breakouts from this. I have environmentally sensitive skin due to working daily outside and genetically dry skin. Paired with my other skincare steps, I have a little too much glow and love that this matte product tames my glow and I can control my glow moving forward. SPF is a must, and to me, this is the best alternative for an environmentally conscience lifestyle. Non nano zinc, while still not the answer to SPF vs. Environment, is the best product on the market I've found to work while reducing my personal carbon footprint.

Hi Heather - Thank you for such a thorough and descriptive review. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate this. You make so many insightful points that will be so relevant to others. What would we need to do to get 5 not 4 stars?

Ps. We have a certified SPF 30 in development and hope to have it launched early in 2019 so stay tuned!

Not my favorite :-(

I wanted to love this cream, but I can’t. It’s mattifying and that does not work for me. It does feel nice as a hand cream and I love the ingredients. Not for somebody with dry skin and one that likes a dewy look.

Well we really appreciate candid feedback like this and I’d like to suggest that you might like to consider trying it over a well moisturized face - such as with a generous pump of our Superfood Serum and Face Food Mist. That will contribute to more of a dewy look and if you wear makeup, it will also act as an amazing base for foundation or bronzer.

Hello sunshine!

This sunscreen is not greasy, not sticky, doesn't turn my skin white and completely absorbs. Feels wonderful on the skin and as someone with sensitive skin, it is soothing- probably the zinc. Finally, a sunscreen that doesn't make me wish for rain!

ps. It is really pretty with a bit of 'Face Glow' mixed in. Just smoosh it together in your hand and apply. It gives a soft glow and just a bit of coverage- like a BB cream, but a non-toxic BB cream. Bonus- you can adjust the colour.
