#AskGraydon: How Do I Make Berry Rich More Hydrating?
Hi Namrata 😍
First of all, I just wanna take this opportunity to thank you for your support.
And also, thank you for this wonderful question. Now that winter is finally here, Berry Rich will surely become your best friend with its rich, luxurious and moisturizing feel. However, as someone with dry skin, I understand the struggle. Sometimes you need all the hydration you can get. 🥶 ❄️
So today, I’m sharing 4 easy tips that I often use to make Berry Rich more hydrating.
Tip 1: Prep your skin with a water-based product.
Due to the harsh cold weather, the water in our skin tends to evaporate more quickly than in the warmer months. This makes our skin dry and flaky, which is why it needs to be replenished with plenty of water.
Some of the products I tend to reach for are toners like Face Food Mineral Mist or a water-based serum like Fullmoon Serum. What you choose is completely up to you and how dry your skin is. Personally, my skin needs both. After applying these two products, gently massage Berry Rich onto your damp skin. And voila! You’re good to go.
Tip 2: Double moisturizing, baby!
If you’re not familiar with the concept, ‘double moisturizing’ is when you apply two layers of moisturizer instead of one.
Now, you might be thinking, “Graydon, can we really do that?!”
Well, sure you can. Especially if your skin can handle it. This is one of those instances that highlights how personal skincare is. Always listen to your skin and provide it with what it needs.
So if you’re like me and your skin can get really, really dry in the winter, then this is a method you can try. You can either apply two layers of Berry Rich or you can use another moisturizer for the second layer. Personally, I like to use Phyto Clear as my first layer, due to to its amazing retinol-like benefits. Then I go in with Berry Rich for my second layer. Again, it’s entirely up to you!
Tip 3: Add an oil on top (if you need even MORE hydration).
Oils are amazing for the skin. They work by creating a physical layer on top of your skin to prevent water from evaporating. And that’s what we really need during the winter months. Here's what you can do: apply Berry Rich and allow it to absorb into your skin. Then, go in with a facial oil to lock in moisture. You don’t need much. Just 3 - 4 drops is enough for the oil to work its magic.
I recommend using Superfood Serum. It contains 13 superfood oils that deeply nourish your skin, giving you a healthy glow.
Tip 4: Use it like a mask.
If you’ve been following our blog for a while, then you know that our super soothing facial moisturizer, aka The Putty, doubles as a calming facial mask. But did you know that you can also use Berry Rich as a mask?
Yup, you totally can. And it’s a really fun way for you to make Berry Rich more hydrating!
So after cleansing, apply a thick layer of Berry Rich while your skin is still damp. I usually use 4 - 5 pumps, but the amount of product you use is completely up to you. Then cover your face with a wet paper towel, muslin mask or cloth. Leave Berry Rich on your skin for about 10 - 20 minutes and wipe it off. Bam! Perfectly nourished skin.
