My Anti-Aging Secret

You may have heard of a little phenomenon called facial yoga as of late (yes, even Meghan Markle does it) and it's no surprise because it's one of the very best things you can possibly do to promote and maintain supple skin and a toned face.

Facial yoga will help you de-stress, improve your blood circulation and even reveal more glowy skin. In this post, I'll walk you through my favourite facial yoga moves. I find it's a great way to start your day or end the night before dozing off.

When I do my facial yoga routine in the morning I like to apply a drop of my Germs Away essential oil blend rubbed into the palms of my hands. It always helps wake me up and I also like that it has anti-microbial qualities as I am very careful about touching my face with hands that are not freshly washed and impeccably clean. Then when I'm done, my face is ready for a little coverage because sometimes it gets flushed from all the extra circulation and energy flowing in it.

But when I do facial yoga at night, I make sure I've just washed my face and these exercises are the perfect opportunity to massage in a few drops of my Superfood Serum and when I'm done, I always follow up with a generous spritz of anti-inflammatory Face Food Mineral Mist before turning out the lights!

Read on for a step by step guide for some facial yoga moves that will wake up your face and help reduce signs of aging:

Jaw Massage

To start I like to begin with warming up the oil between my hands by rubbing them together and then begin massaging my jaw. This is a place that can store a lot of tension so it's important to give it some attention. Move your fingers from the side of your face and downwards to your chin.

Bags Be Gone

After you've given your jaw some TLC move your fingers upwards towards your eye area. Take the back of your thumb and press it along your under eye area (be gentle!) Work your way from the side of your nose to your cheekbones and back again.

Frown No More

With the back of your pointer and middle finger move them across from your innermost part of your eyebrow to the outer. This is one of my favourite facial yoga moves because it helps relieve a lot of computer-related eye tension. You can also try keeping your pointer and middle fingers still and moving your head back and forth for a really nice forehead massage.

Wrinkles Away

After that transition to tapping on your head with your fingers. There are so many nerve endings on your scalp and it's important to stimulate them from time to time.

 The Ear Yank

Don't neglect your ears. Give them a good yank. Try pulling the bottom of your earlobes or the top with your fingers. You'll be surprised by how much tension your ears hold! Releasing your ear tension will also allow your lymphatic system to drain and work more effectively (good bye puffy face)!

Stroke your neck

Return to massaging the sides of your jaw before stroking your neck with your fingers from your chin downwards. This helps drain fluid from your lymph nodes and decreases swelling and puffiness you might have in your face.

End the exercise by rubbing your hands together and pressing them against your face, warming your skin and the eye area.
